Project Background

For over 20 years, Opportunity international has been known for its use of micro-credit to empower small-scale entrepreneurs living in poverty. Providing small loans for business owners to support market growth and thus economic development is one of the key offerings that the organization was built on. However, the organization has evolved to meet the changing needs of its clients in response to growing issues such as agricultural risks, lack of access to education, or decreasing health in poor communities.

In 2019, they launched Pathway To A Better Life, a graduation program for those living in extreme poverty in rural communities of Haiti. I was tasked to visually communicate the goals and process of this new program for the organization’s established donor base who have grown familiar with its core financial service offerings.

Project Outcome

I used the organization's established visual language to create an infographic of a client’s journey from their entrance into the program until graduation. One real client story was incorporated in the diagram to demonstrate the reality of extreme poverty for a family living on the margins as well as the transformation that the program would bring. The infographic reflects Opportunity's client-centred visual storytelling approach to demonstrate the program's impact.
